Yellow House Vineyard: Natural Bee Fields
Each year we allow our fields to grow a little wild for a duration of time. By allowing this to occur we have seen a strong increase in nature including the honeybees. Honeybees absolutely love the 1000’s of clovers that occur for about a month out of the year. During this month at the peak of the pollination it’s nearly impossible to avoid the honeybees on the ground. As you walk along during this time you can hear the buzzing of 100’s if not 1000’s of happy honeybees. Here at Yellow House Vineyard, we do our absolute best to give all the opportunities possible to ensure the highest quality grapes possible.
Over many years of growing grapes, we noticed that honeybees pollinate them if the population of honeybees are very high in the area. Granted the vines don’t need to be pollinated since they are self-pollinating but after trying the wine from the neighboring vineyard that has this dense population of honeybees, we noticed the different in taste. This is just one thing we do to raise to the bar of grape quality.
